- bi> AT&F&C1&D2W1L1M1S0=0S95=44S7=45
-
- Don't know why any techie would have offered that string since:
-
- &f sets first factory default
- &c1&d2 standard setup for PC (not needed from ver1.309 ROM on the V34
- models)
- w1 is overridden by the s95 command
- s0=0 is default (number of rings to autoanswer)
- s95=44 gives CARRIER messages at connect with modem to computer speed
- s7=45 carrier wait time (default is 50 secs)

-
- What modems are you running on your ISP?
-
- bi> Can't explain why, except maybe they're cutting corners

-
- No corners have been cut. Both the V.FC and the V34 models have some
- features not normally found in budget models such as capability to
- run MNP-4 with V42bis, integral cellular support, MNP10, etc
-
- On the earlier V.FCs tho retraining fallback/fallforward was off by
- default, it should have %E2 in the init. And the auto LAP-M to MNP10
- was on by default, place a -K0 in the init (this was also on by default
- in the V34s with ROM level earlier than 1.309)
-
- Hope this helps
